DESCRIPTION
The Technology & Data Legal Team is responsible for supporting transactions of all flavors (e.g. cloud, on premise software, hardware, professional services, market data, general services), as well as providing day-to-day advisory services on areas that include emerging tech (cloud, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies, quantum computing), data protection, intellectual property, social media and cybersecurity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review, draft, negotiate and close a broad range of technology agreements, including security product and service transactions of all kinds, on premise software licensing, Saas and other cloud transactions, technology outsourcing, hardware purchases, professional services, maintenance and support arrangements.
- Providing strategic and pragmatic Legal advice and support on the legal and regulatory requirements of technology implementation and usage
- Collaborate closely with the rest of the Technology & Data legal team to design, modify and implement company policies and processes to ensure legal compliance with internal policies, as well as applicable laws and regulations, including privacy and data protection law, cloud regulations and others
- Lead team-wide technology legal projects to ensure a consistent approach on legal analysis, approach and positions locally, regionally and world-wide
Qualifications
- Juris doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school
- licensed to practice law (and in good standing) in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, preferably New York
- Minimum of 4-8 years technology legal experience, preferably in the financial services industry
- Experience drafting and negotiating and quickly closing compl ex technology-related contracts
- Experience advising clients on complex technology issues, and advising clients on day-to-day issues as they arise
- Must be an energetic and enthusiastic team player, who takes ownership of projects, building relationships cross-functionally, and working on cutting-edge legal issues
- Positive, can-do attitude with an extremely collaborative nature who understands the value of teamwork
- Strong client management and communications skills
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability and willingness to work with clients and colleagues under business-sensitive deadlines
- Must possess business judgement and ability to assess legal risk while providing practical advice
