Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Mid to Senior Level Associate, Senior Counsel or Partner. The desired candidate will have Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) experience. The candidate can be located in Austin, Broomfield, Chicago, Denver, Madison, Milwaukee, North Carolina, Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., or Waukesha.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:

• Federal and state laws and regulations, specifically in FERC proceedings involving electric matters.
• FERC regulations of electric utility and transmission companies, and LNG and hydroelectric facilities. 
• Experience working with electric and electric generators (conventional, renewable, and hydroelectric fueled), investors in electric generating, utility, large municipalities, and federal power agencies. 
• Rates and non-rate tariff terms and conditions of service
• Siting, construction, and certificate proceedings
• Regional Transmission Organizations’ and Independent System Operators’ stakeholder processes, tariffs, markets, and dispute litigation
• Transactions and agreements
• Commodity markets
• Project finance and related FERC compliance
• FERC Enforcement investigations and compliance
• Environmental issues relating to FERC compliance

For Colorado applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The starting salary for associate positions in our Denver office is $190,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Associates are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s associate bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.  This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including: medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm's 401k plan.
