12 month fixed-term contract for a Planning & Environment Lawyer | Public sector organisation | Melbourne Your new companyThis public sector body provides an essential service to the Melbourne community.
Your new role
Working within a team of high-performing lawyers while reporting to a Managing Lawyer with extensive experience in Planning & Environment matters, you will support the organisation on a range of planning and environment law matters.
Responsibilities will include:
- providing advice in relation to statutory referrals for planning permit applications and other planning or development certifications;
- attendance at VCAT or Court from time to time as instructing lawyer;
- briefing barristers and managing external counsel as required;
- drafting and reviewing legal documentation including planning permit conditions, court documents and legal precedents;
- advising the organisation on legal risks and regulatory matters.
You will hold a current Australian practising certificate with previous experience in planning and environment law matters, including experience with VCAT matters and processes. You will be a commercially focused lawyer with the ability to provide effective legal advice that supports the organisation to achieve desired outcomes while being able to work effectively with various stakeholders and explaining technical legal matters using plain language.
