Your new role
As Legal Manager (Regulatory & Corporate), you will lead a small team while reporting into the Head of Legal and Procurement. In this role, you will ensure that the organisation has access to high quality legal advice and support across a range of areas including statutory interpretation, regulatory decision making, administrative law, general commercial and corporate matters (including commercial negotiations, procurement, IP, property and employment law), privacy and AI, FOI requests, and ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.

You will play a key role in driving proactive, risk-based decision making across the organisation by:

• leading and managing 5-6 direct reports;
• providing subject matter or expert advice to executives and senior stakeholders across the organisation, including by way of briefing papers and oral presentations;
• overseeing end-to-end Freedom of Information requests and statutory requests;
• developing and implementing systems and processes for matter allocation and support budget planning;
• delivering complex legal projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders;
• contributing to the overall leadership and strategy implementation of the division.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an experienced lawyer with previous team management and leadership experience and hold, or be eligible to hold, a current unrestricted Australian practising certificate. You will also have significant experience working in a senior legal role across regulatory, administrative law and commercial law matters. As an experienced manager, you will be able to autonomously drive work outcomes and projects while also building a high performing team through coaching, performance development and management. Previous experience working in the public sector and an understanding of the Victorian energy sector will also be highly regarded.
