Position
Washington Energy Law LLP seeks a full-time associate attorney to work in our Washington, D.C. office. A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience is strongly preferred, and strong research, writing, and interpersonal skills are required. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Federal Power Act and the electric energy sector, specifically in areas related to federal regulations and policy, electric utility ratemaking, wholesale energy markets, transmission development and cost allocation, and regional transmission organizations.

Requirements
- A J.D. degree from an accredited law school and an active membership in good standing in any state bar
- A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in energy regulatory law is strongly preferred
- An understanding of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, electric industry participants, federal electric regulatory rules, policies, and market structures, and administrative law
- Strong analytical and advocacy skills, attention to detail, and the ability to comprehend complicated technical data
- Excellent organization, time-management, communication, and writing skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects
