Josiah Knapp Law, PC is a general practice law firm operating in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with offices in Pennsylvania and New York, handling both litigation and transactional matters with a diverse corporate client base.  We represent businesses throughout the country, but the primary focus of the firm’s practice is representing casinos in the United States and internationally in the collection of debts owed to the casinos for unpaid checks. 

We have an immediate opening for a full-time, highly motivated, Associate Attorney to work out of our New York office.  This attorney should be in good standing, licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey and have 3-5 years litigation experience in New York, be familiar with New York Civil Practice, including motion practice and discovery, and have experience appearing in various Courts throughout New York.   Experience clerking for a New York State Court Judge, while not necessary, will merit strong consideration. 

The successful candidate must be comfortable negotiating with defendants and their attorneys to settle cases, as well as drafting pleadings, including complaints, and motions, conducting discovery, including the taking of depositions, legal research, and brief writing.  In addition, the applicant should be a self-starter, who is comfortable traveling to Courts throughout New York and New Jersey and with working with attorneys and staff that are off-site in a productive and efficient manner. The successful candidate can work from home or an office in New York or both.

Every applicant for the position should have an outgoing personality, demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills and be proficient in legal research and writing.  In addition, the successful candidate must be willing and able to learn new areas of law, and comfortable operating in a diverse practice.

The firm offers health insurance and pays ½ of the individual premium, four weeks paid time off, and a 401k with employer match.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Bonuses awarded in accordance with success.

The firm would also consider taking on a solo practitioner or an attorney with a small book of business in New York, but who also has the majority of their time to spend on matters for Josiah Knapp Law, PC.
