Description
Individual is an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, responsible for prosecution of criminal offenses occurring within Delaware County. The Assistant Prosecuting Attorney’s primary responsibility is to handle cases after an indictment is returned by the grand jury. This includes handling pretrial motions and negotiations, trial, and post-conviction matters including appeals. They will also be responsible for reviewing/presenting cases for Grand Jury. Physical presence is necessary in the office. Regular, predictable and prompt attendance is needed. Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys represent the Prosecuting Attorney and the State of Ohio in court, in the community, to law enforcement, to victims, to witnesses, and to the general public.
Requirements
-Thorough knowledge of the Ohio Revised Code, criminal case law, and criminal procedure.
-Good trial advocacy skills, including jury selection, authentication of documents and physical evidence, examination and cross-examination of witnesses and argument to bench and jury.
-Excellent legal research and writing skills.
-Ability to manage a large case load with minimal direct supervision, as well as work as part of a coordinated team of professionals.
-Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with other people who possess widely varied levels of education and competence.
-Demonstrates integrity and reliability and ability to maintain confidentiality.
-Ability to evaluate risks and exercise sound judgment, making decisions in complex and sometimes ambiguous situations that carry significant implications for the citizens of Delaware County.
-Ability to work under pressure and to capably interact with co-workers and other members of various departments and agencies.
